Sources of information.
There are feline genome projects and conferences and research has now have identified 250 inherited disease in cats. That total is being added to with continuing scientific research and Breeder input. Breeders see patterns of problems with a breed and communicating gives us the ability to help eliminate problems, not keep passing them on. Dr David Biller has been working since the 1980's at Ohio State University on modes of inheritance in Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) in cats. Breeds most at risk are Persian and related breeds. http://www.felinepkd.com/ is a good resource.
